Lately at our showroom in Hong Kong, we frequently encounter clients torn between two dilemmas when choosing a custom sofa in Hong Kong: their living room space is limited, yet while they desire an American vintage, substantial-looking large sofa, buying it often risks blocking the entire hallway. On the other hand, opting for off-the-shelf small furniture usually lacks character and fails to elevate the living room's presence.
In fact, a small space does not mean you have to compromise on texture. While reviewing blueprint drawings with our craftsmen at the factory these days, we kept discussing one question: Why do people in Hong Kong always confine themselves to the formula of "a large sofa + a coffee table"?
If you shift your perspective and break down the living room into different thematic corners, you'll find the space actually feels more spacious and life becomes much more interesting.

If you are like me, and the thing you look forward to most when coming home is holding a book and sipping a cup of coffee, you honestly don't need to buy a large 3-seater. When creating custom furniture recently, we often suggest clients use a classic club chair (single armchair) paired with a side table, backed by a full wall of bookshelves.

If the core of your living room is relaxing to music or watching TV, instead of cramming in a large sofa, try reserving the main spot for a single armchair, paired with a low sideboard or TV stand.
This configuration allows lines of sight to pass right through completely. Whether you want to quietly listen to some jazz after work or enjoy simple entertainment, this "negative space" flow actually makes the living room look twice as large.

This is a setup I personally highly recommend, yet few dare to try: give up the large sofa and use two club chairs placed opposite each other, or set up in the corner of the living room. Paired with a vintage sideboard, it creates the atmosphere of a cigar lounge. This is exceptionally suited for a mature theme like "Whiskey Time / Unwinding Late into the Night."

Many think sofa customization is a hassle, but in our eyes, customization is simply taking the image in your mind and "tailoring" it through factory craftsmanship into the exact dimensions that suit your home.
Furniture is meant to accompany you through daily life; there is no need to compromise your living room's flow just to accommodate ready-made stock.
If you've recently felt that your living room is crammed with ready-made furniture yet still looks a bit "off," feel free to bring your home floor plan or dimensions and chat with us at the store. We aren't in a rush to sell you stock items — let's figure out how to plan a relaxing corner that truly belongs to you.
